AT THE BIRTH OF JESUS

Soft cries fill the night
As a mother holds her child tight
In a manger, simple and rough
Lies the newborn, so full of love

Angels sing in heavenly praise
And proclaim the birth of better days
A star shines bright in the sky
It guides the shepherds who pass by

Wise men travel from afar
Guided by a single shining star
Bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh
For the child, a symbol of hope and blurriness

The world is calm, full of peace
The baby Jesus sleeps with ease
In humble beginnings, a king is born
To save the lost and forsaken

Joy and rejoicing reign everywhere
For a savior has finally appeared
He brings light into a dark night
And fills hearts with eternal joy

A promise of love, in this tiny form
A miracle that will weather any storm
For in this child God's love and grace is reflected
Reflected in every little face

Let us kneel at the birth of Jesus
And offer up our hearts with purity and praise
In this manger lies the hope of mankind
A precious gift we can never find.
