The Lawbreakers

I have done my best to remain a disciplined citizen
The masses have refused to complain
The children have accepted every hard situation in silence
Our youths have maintained calm and order
Our parents instructed us to remain hopeful in God's timing.

Some of our leaders have kept on embarrassing themselves
They allowed dishonesty and cheat to soil their integrity
Shame has become their second identification tag
I can't kill myself defending the shameless leaders
Their deeds and works will follow them here and in eternity.

As they sit in throne making mistakes that will destroy them,
they drain the public fund with their fake projects
I sit under my mango tree to enjoy the gift of nature
I have learnt to live a life of ease
I am confident in the Almighty God
His peace is the source of my strength.

Out of our budget, they mapped out billions of our currency to feed school children
Schools with numerous population opened their doors to welcome the agents of the government
They gave the contract to themselves
Obasanjo's administration as the head of state introduced this programme under a universal basic education.

To Obasanjo, every child must be in school
The attraction to keep children in school was to feed them
Years after his regime, the programme was discarded
due to the type of our nation's leadership of no continuity
God uses anyone as an instrument to work and bless His people.

Reasonable people are smart and intelligent
I look with pity at the level of ignorance in the display because of greed
I have refused to accept their gifts as they move about distributing relief materials to the selected few
They give you peanuts in exchange for thousands of dollars.

I was not born to be a beggar
The pride and dignity of a nobleman is work
The door to door exercise started from their homes
From the remnants, they chose the beneficiaries of their charity relief
Their feeding programme was not for all.

With vouchers, they handpicked those to go for a collection of food
They mapped out centres with a specific collection time
If they want to bring change in our lives,
they need to examine the way to do things
The perception of their ideas is in the wrong direction.
